Young chef Nil Albert, from the L'Espurna restaurant in Lleida, has been named the winner of the 35th Àngel Moncusí Young Chefs Competition held at the Mercat del Pla.

The contest, a benchmark for discovering new culinary talent in Lleida, required thirteen participants to create a main course using pork ribs and a dessert featuring local apples or pears. Sergi López from Cal Xirricló took second place.

"I am 22 years old and this is the first gastronomic competition I have participated in because my boss insisted. I am very excited and surprised."
