The duty court in Lleida has ordered provisional communication and bail-free prison for the four young people arrested on Tuesday in the La Bordeta neighborhood. The detainees are accused of attacking neighbors armed with axes and clubs, according to judicial sources. The Prosecutor's Office had requested this precautionary measure for those under investigation, three men and one woman aged between 18 and 21.
The young individuals are being investigated for crimes including threats, assault, public disorder, and trespassing. The court cited the risk of reoffending and flight due to a lack of roots as reasons for their imprisonment. It is noteworthy that three of the four detainees have a combined total of around twenty criminal records, mostly for theft, with one accumulating ten.
The mayor of Lleida, Fèlix Larrosa, has announced that the Paeria (City Council) will join the case as a private prosecutor. Meanwhile, the neighborhood association has called for increased police presence in the area. The incident occurred when a man discovered his apartment had been occupied and was subsequently attacked by the alleged perpetrators. Neighbors came to his defense, at which point the detainees reportedly returned armed with axes and clubs, injuring two residents.
