The Lleida City Council preventively evacuated three residents from Carrer Boters number 25 after the collapse of a wall from an adjacent ruined building affected the structure, requiring a technical review.

The incident occurred during the demolition of properties located at numbers 21 and 23 on the same street, which had been previously declared derelict. Municipal sources attributed the partial collapse of the wall at number 23 to recent rainfall, which directly impacted the structure of number 25. Only one person was inside the evacuated block at the time of the incident.

The rain that has fallen in recent days caused damage to the wall of number 23, which partially collapsed, affecting the building at number 25.

Following the initial evacuation, a municipal technician conducted a general inspection of the building. Residents on the first floor were authorized to return, but those on the second floor were not allowed back until a comprehensive structural review is completed. Only two of the four affected homes were inhabited, totaling three people.
The Deputy Mayor for City Management, Begoña Iglesias, traveled to the site, located in the Historic Center, to assess the situation. The Guàrdia Urbana (Local Police) proceeded to cut off traffic on Carrer Boters as a precaution. Social services from the Paeria (City Council) attended to the three affected individuals, although none required emergency accommodation.
This is not the first incident on the same street. Approximately two years ago, another block undergoing demolition, number 22, located near Plaça Cervantes, unexpectedly collapsed, forcing the evacuation of 34 residents from neighboring properties. The last preventive evacuation in Lleida took place in February of last year, on Carrer del Nord, in the Noguerola neighborhood, due to large cracks caused by adjacent construction work.
