Prodeca (Promoter of Catalan Foods) is coordinating the joint participation of 29 companies within the Catalunya Space, aiming to facilitate contact with international buyers and enhance the visibility of Catalan produce. The fair, held at IFEMA Madrid, is a key meeting point for the sector, having previously attracted over 117,000 professionals from 145 countries.
The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Food, Òscar Ordeig, visited the Catalan stands, emphasizing the sector's strategic importance for Catalonia, highlighting its significant production, export, and innovation capacity. "The Government is committed to supporting companies in opening new markets," he stated.
During the fair, ADORE™ was presented, a new premium apple variety program developed in collaboration with IRTA (Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology) to adapt fruit production to climate change. This program already has 120 hectares licensed in Catalonia.
The Catalan fruit and vegetable sector maintains a strong export orientation. In the first half of 2026, Catalonia exported fruit valued at 518.93 million euros. In 2025, it had 393 regular exporting companies, representing nearly 21% of the national total. The province of Lleida accounts for over a quarter of these exports.
