The campaign, under the slogan “The bond that makes us immense”, focuses on the solidarity and altruism of donation. Blood and plasma can be donated both in the morning and afternoon.
This initiative, the largest of the year, expects over 600 participants to help replenish blood reserves, which typically drop by around 20% in the summer due to fewer donations. The Paeria, along with the Provincial Council of Lleida and various companies, has joined the blood donor volunteer initiative.
The Councillor for Health, Jackson Quiñónez, emphasized the importance of donations as a life-saving gesture. Quiñónez participated in the Marathon's presentation alongside the head of the Blood and Tissue Bank in Lleida, Juan Manuel Sánchez; the president of the Segrià Blood Donors Association (ADS), José Antonio Moreno, and donor Alexandra Balaguer.
The campaign's imagery features three donors from Lleida: Marcel Cabiscol (a young donor of blood, plasma, and platelets), Paula Molins (who donated blood for the first time), and Alexandra Balaguer (actively involved with the ADS).
The ADS Segrià has mobilized over 85 companies and entities, making this edition the one with the most collaborators. The association will liven up the event with activities such as healthy breakfasts, cultural and sports performances, a raffle for sports equipment, magic shows, and a children's area with virtual reality glasses provided by technology company Invelon.
Donors will receive a gift bag and participate in a raffle for products and services offered by collaborating entities, including gift vouchers to promote local consumption from the Merchant Associations of Cappont and La Bordeta, thanks to PIMEC Comerç.
The Marathon, themed “the bond that makes us immense,” aims to foster community relationships and encourage citizen involvement.
Appointments can be booked at bancsang.net/msanglleida. Donation hours will be from 10 AM to 3 PM and 4 PM to 9 PM. Donors will receive free parking at La Llotja.
