The Municipal Auditorium Enric Granados in Lleida is reinforcing its commitment to traditional voice and singing with the coproduction of the «Silvestres & Suarina» project. This initiative, conceived as a creative laboratory, explores Mediterranean vocal polyphony, viewing it as a living heritage and a bridge between cultures.
The project brings together two female polyphonic traditions: the Catalan trio Silvestres, composed of Heura Gaya, Núria Garcia, and Arantxa Broto, who reinterpret popular contemporary songs; and the Corsican quartet Suarina, featuring Sylvia Gensollen, Mariane Valentini, Elisa Tramoni, and Angélique Degiovanni, blending Corsican technique with modern sounds.
Following a research stay in Corsica, the creators are concluding their process in Lleida before the official premiere at the Fira Mediterrània de Manresa. Lleida's public can attend a free general rehearsal on Thursday, October 15th, at 8:00 PM in Hall 1 of the Auditorium.
This international coproduction also involves the Fira Mediterrània de Manresa, the Centre National de Création Musicale Voce (Corsica), and the Institut Ramon Llull, highlighting the Auditorium's role as a center for artistic production and research.
Concurrently, a teacher training workshop was held on September 30th and October 1st, led by singer Heura Gaya and recognized by the Centre de Recursos Pedagògics del Segrià (CRP). The workshop explores the use of voice, body, and traditional percussion based on Mediterranean polyphony, offering practical pedagogical tools for educators.
