The Generalitat de Catalunya, through the departments of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food and Business and Labour (via ACCIÓ), will have an active presence at the second edition of the Agrobiotech Innovation Forum in Lleida. The aim is to promote the bioeconomy, technological advancements in agri-food, and facilitate business contacts. This was explained by the Government delegate in Lleida, Núria Gil, during the fair's presentation at the Parc Agrobiotech Lleida.
The Agriculture department will organize workshops on the economic opportunities of the bioeconomy, the transformation of agriculture with artificial intelligence, sustainable agricultural production, improving soil health, and the presentation of the Strategy for Irrigation Investments in Catalonia 2025-2040. The Ruralapps Award, recognizing useful applications for the rural sector, will also be presented.
For its part, ACCIÓ will provide information and networking opportunities through an infoday on European calls for the agri-food sector, a matchmaking event for business meetings between companies, participation in the Agrobiotech Investment Forum with the presentation of 10 startups, a session on opportunities in the Netherlands, and collaboration in the 2nd Consular Meeting.
Núria Gil highlighted that the fair contributes to positioning Lleida as a leading agri-food innovation hub in Southern Europe, addressing the challenges of sustainability, efficiency, and competitiveness in the primary sector in the face of climate change.
“"Promoting a more competitive, sustainable, and technologically advanced primary sector and strengthening the leadership of Lleida and Catalonia in agri-food innovation and bioeconomy acceleration is a strategic priority that we all share among the institutional, economic, social, and research agents of Ponent."
The forum, organized by Fira de Lleida and Parc Agrobiotech Lleida, will take place from October 27 to 29, featuring over 200 exhibitors and 70 sessions, aiming for a measurable impact on the agri-food sector.
