La Llotja in Lleida is hosting a new edition of the Blood and Plasma Donor Marathon this Thursday and Friday, October 8th and 9th, the year's most significant campaign for replenishing reserves.

The event, organized by the City Council (Paeria), the Provincial Council of Lleida, and various companies, aims to surpass 600 donations to ensure supply, as reserves typically drop by 20% during the summer. This year's theme is "The bond that makes us immense," emphasizing the solidarity of the act.
The Councilor for Health, Jackson Quiñónez, highlighted the importance of donation for "saving lives" during the presentation. He was joined by the head of the Blood and Tissue Bank in Lleida, Juan Manuel Sánchez, the president of the Blood Donor Association (ADS) of Segrià, José Antonio Moreno, and Alexandra Balaguer, who is featured in the campaign's imagery.
The campaign's visual features three donors from Lleida: Marcel Cabiscol (a young donor of blood, plasma, and platelets), Paula Molins (who donated for the first time), and Alexandra, who is actively involved with the ADS Segrià.
The ADS Segrià has mobilized over 85 companies and entities, making this edition the one with the most collaborators. The event will include activities such as healthy breakfasts, cultural and sports performances, a raffle for sports equipment, and magic shows. Children accompanying donors can enjoy a dedicated space with virtual reality glasses provided by the technology company Invelon.
Donors will receive a gift bag thanks to the significant involvement of local companies and entities. They will also participate in a raffle for products and services offered by collaborating organizations, including gift vouchers to promote local consumption from the Merchant Associations of Cappont and La Bordeta, thanks to PIMEC Comerç.
The Marathon seeks to foster community relationships and calls on citizens to get involved through this act of solidarity. Appointments can be booked at bancsang.net/msanglleida, with operating hours from 10 AM to 3 PM and 4 PM to 9 PM. Donors will be able to park for free at La Llotja.
