Foreign Social Security Affiliation in Lleida Grows 84% in Ten Years

The province of Lleida registered 47,366 foreign contributors in December 2025, representing 22.35% of the total workforce.

Data from the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security, and Migration reveals that the affiliation of foreign workers in the province of Lleida increased by 84.02% between 2015 and 2025.

The increase in foreign contributors in the province of Lleida is significant, rising from 25,739 affiliates in December 2015 to 47,366 in December 2025, according to official figures. This figure represents 22.35% of the total contributors in the province.
This 22.35% figure places Lleida as the second province with the highest proportion of foreign affiliates in all of Spain, only surpassed by Almería. Furthermore, it is clearly the highest percentage in Catalonia, where the average is close to 18%.

The increase in foreign workers across Spain was even higher than in Lleida, rising from 1.6 million to 3.1 million between 2015 and 2025, an increase of 89.55%.

Over the last year, the province added 3,039 affiliates from other countries (a 6.86% increase). Workers originating outside the European Union account for 66.81% of the total, with a significant presence in the agricultural sector. A gender gap is noted in this group, where women account for only 29.40%.
