Residents in Lleida expressed frustration over authorized overnight roadworks renewing the pavement on Príncep de Viana street, carried out by the Generalitat between Tuesday and Wednesday night.

The works, intended to repair the road surface damaged by the construction of the new bus station, led to numerous calls to the Guàrdia Urbana (Local Police) due to noise until the early hours. The Paeria (City Council) had previously announced that the work would start on Tuesday at 9:00 PM, requiring a total traffic cut between Plaça Ramon Berenguer IV and Avinguda de Sant Ruf.

"The Urbana told me they had received many calls from annoyed neighbours, but they couldn't do anything because the works were authorized, and they were being done at night to avoid cutting traffic during the day."

One resident had to contact the police at three in the morning to remove her car from a parking area to go to the Arnau de Vilanova hospital Emergency Room. The Guàrdia Urbana confirmed that the works were authorized and scheduled at night to minimize daytime traffic impact.
These paving tasks occur as the construction of the new Lleida bus station enters its final phase, with facades nearly complete and interiors advanced. The terminal, which represents an investment of over 40 million euros and will feature 28 platforms, is expected to enter service before next spring.
