The initiative, promoted by the local Women's Association, was inaugurated on March 8th to coincide with International Women's Day. The piece, made of colorful sewn hexagons, will remain in place until October, depending on how it withstands the summer heat.
“"We wanted to do something to decorate the town and we decided to make something by knitting because of the success of the crochet classes."
The project was led by Pepita Cazador, an expert who has been teaching the technique in the village for three years. According to Cazador, crochet is a relaxing activity that allows for deep concentration. The group of volunteers worked for nearly two months to complete the work.
