The film, starring Oscar winners Russell Crowe and Rami Malek, recounts the story of the trials against the main Nazi leaders after World War II. Crowe plays Hermann Göring, a key figure in Hitler's regime, while Malek portrays US Army psychiatrist Douglas Kelley, tasked with assessing the mental fitness of the accused.
The conversations between Kelley and Göring evolve into an intense psychological duel, running parallel to the preparations for the historic Nuremberg trials led by prosecutor Robert H. Jackson, played by Michael Shannon. The plot explores individual responsibility, the nature of evil, and the necessity of justice in the face of Holocaust crimes.
Inspired by the non-fiction book The Nazi and the Psychiatrist by Jack El-Hai, the production has received several awards and nominations, including at the San Sebastián Film Festival, the Heartland International Film Festival, and the AARP Movies for Grownups Awards.
