Cinema Paradís in Amer will host the screening of «Tanit» on Sunday, November 22nd, at 6:00 PM, as part of the Cicle Gaudí. Tickets cost €4.5 and can be purchased via Entradium or at the box office.
The film, directed and scripted by Barcelona-based Pep Garrido, is an adaptation of a story by Núria Albó. It is described as a fable about coming-of-age, family ties, and the friendship between two solitary souls, set in Montseny.
The story centers on Tanit, a 10-year-old girl, who explores the forest amidst family changes. Her relationship with her mother, experiencing a high-risk pregnancy, and the distance from her father, absorbed by work and caregiving, lead her to feel jealous of her unborn sibling.
During one of her explorations, Tanit meets grandmother Perona, an isolated elderly woman considered a witch by some. This unexpected encounter sparks a beautiful friendship and a mentor-apprentice relationship, but an event soon disrupts Tanit's world.
The film's soundtrack is by Clara Peya. 'Tanit' delves into themes such as grief, death, mental health, family bonds, rural life, ancestral wisdom, fear of the unknown, and the transition to adulthood from a child's perspective.
