Blanes limits tourist apartments to 1,962, less than half the maximum legal ceiling

The measure, approved by the municipal plenary, seeks to balance the tourist offer with the housing needs of the municipality.

The Blanes City Council, in the Selva region, approved on January 30 limiting the number of tourist apartment licenses (HUTs) to 1,962 to control growth and protect housing availability.

The decision taken by the Blanes city council establishes a ceiling of 1,962 tourist use homes (HUTs), a figure significantly lower than the maximum legal allowance, which would be 4,152. Currently, the municipality has 1,339 active licenses, meaning there is still room to grant 623 new HUTs before reaching the new limit.
This regulation is part of the Special Urban Planning Plan (PEU), which was initially approved last August. The proposal received the approval of the Department of Business and Labor before being brought to the municipal plenary.

With this limit, the City Council seeks to control the growth of tourist apartments and balance the offer with the housing needs of the municipality.

The vote in the plenary session had the favorable votes of the governing team, formed by PSC, Junts per Blanes, and Blanes Sí. The groups Vox, PP, Blanes ECP, and Grup Blanes abstained, while ERC and CUP voted against it. The PEU will now be processed by the Girona Information Commission for its final approval.
