This temporary halt means that trawling is completely suspended during these months. The main goal of the ban is to ensure the sustainability of marine ecosystems and the recovery of key species along the coast.
As a direct consequence of this regulation, highly valued products such as fresh shrimp and Norway lobster from Blanes will not be available in fish markets while the ban is in effect.
Despite the trawling stop, the remaining fleets at the Port of Blanes will continue with their usual fishing activity, maintaining a portion of the economic activity.
The trawling ban is a common and regulated practice applied periodically to ensure the long-term viability of fishing and the conservation of fishing grounds in the Girona region.
