The interruption was detected on Friday afternoon on the stretch between Maçanet-Massanes and Blanes, just the day that the Rodalies service resumed normally across Catalonia following the fatal accident in Gelida (Alt Penedès) last Tuesday.
“"We cannot play Russian roulette."
Sources from the majority union indicated that this new disruption demonstrates that their reluctance to resume service was “no whim,” reaffirming the need to “thoroughly” review the state of the railway network to prevent further incidents.
Renfe confirmed that an alternative road service has been managed to cover the affected route. Circulation between Hospitalet de Llobregat and Blanes is maintained, but with a reduced frequency of two trains per hour in each direction.
It should be recalled that a rock fall had already occurred on this same stretch between Maçanet and Blanes, causing a train to derail shortly before the wall collapse that caused the fatality in Gelida on Tuesday night.
