73-year-old man dies after being hit by a truck on the AP-7 in Girona

The victim, from Massanes, was stopped on the hard shoulder when a truck collided with the car.

A 73-year-old man, a resident of Massanes, died on Friday night after being hit by a truck on the AP-7 motorway, near Aiguaviva, in the Gironès region.

The accident occurred when the car in which the victim was traveling, as the front passenger, was stopped on the hard shoulder. For reasons still under investigation, a truck hit the man after he had exited the vehicle.
Emergency services received the alert about the incident at 9:33 PM. The victim was taken in critical condition to the Josep Trueta Hospital in Girona, where he eventually died early in the morning.
Following the accident, several patrols from the Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan Police), three units from the Generalitat Firefighters, and seven units from the System of Medical Emergencies (SEM), which also activated psychological support services, were deployed.
