The Blanes Local Police has concluded the first six months of its canine unit's operations with a total of 198 fines and eight arrests recorded since July.

Since its launch last summer, the K9 unit, featuring the police dog Eris, has carried out 189 preventive services. These operations, often conducted alongside other local officers, focused on public health, leading to four specific arrests for drug-related offenses.

"Everyone's tendency is to go and pet her or play with her, but when the dog is working, no one can interact with her."

Juanma Rodríguez · Head of the K9 unit
The unit's work involves sniffing out illegal substances during traffic stops and security checks. If Eris identifies drugs, she is rewarded with a toy. The Blanes Town Council expressed high satisfaction with the results, noting a visible reduction in street-level drug dealing.
