A total of 38 members from the Colla Gegantera, including adults and children, along with 15 members of the Grup de Bastoners, began their journey to Sweden early this Wednesday. This delegation aims to showcase various expressions of traditional Catalan culture at the event.
Blanes' emblematic giants, Gastó and Caterina, accompanied by the smaller giant Vadó Set-Trossos and the 'capgròs' (big-head figure) of the Dimoni, will also be part of the performances. These festive elements are traveling to actively participate in the International Gathering.
In addition to the entities from Blanes, the Gathering will bring together 42 Catalan cultural groups. Among the participants from the Girona region are the 'capgrossos' Músics de Cassà de la Selva, the Colla Gegantera i Graellera de Campdevànol, and the Gegants de Palafrugell, enriching the representation of the country's folklore.
Organized by Adifolk, the 38th International Gathering of Popular Culture seeks to promote Catalan traditions and folklore internationally. This year's edition in Stockholm coincides with the Kulturfestivalen, a major cultural festival held in the Swedish capital's center from August 12th to 16th.
