CEAB-CSIC brings female researchers to classrooms to highlight the role of women in science

The initiative, framed by 11F, will offer twenty talks to about 600 students in La Selva, Maresme, and Barcelonès.

Researchers from the Centre for Advanced Studies of Blanes (CEAB-CSIC) will visit schools in La Selva, Maresme, and Barcelonès between February 9 and 17 to showcase their daily work to nearly 600 students.

This initiative is framed within the celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, which takes place on February 11. The main objective is to break the gender stereotypes that still persist in the fields of science and technology.
The CEAB-CSIC, based in Blanes, has organized a total of about twenty sessions. These will be held in ten educational centers located in municipalities such as Blanes, Palafolls, Malgrat, Lloret, Tordera, Premià de Mar, and Barcelona.
The participation of approximately 600 students from high schools and schools in La Selva, Maresme, and Barcelonès is expected. During the meetings, the researchers explain their professional careers, the challenges they have had to overcome in the world of research, and the successes achieved.
The purpose of the talks is to offer accessible female role models to girls and young women, reinforcing the idea that science is a viable professional path for them.
