Dorian Godon claims victory in Sant Feliu de Guíxols to lead Volta a Catalunya

The INEOS Grenadiers rider won the opening stage after a close sprint against Remco Evenepoel.

French cyclist Dorian Godon, representing INEOS Grenadiers, won the first stage of the 105th Volta a Catalunya this Monday, March 23rd, in Sant Feliu de Guíxols.

The race started and finished in the coastal town, covering a route through Arbúcies, Salt, and Sant Hilari Sacalm. Godon secured the top spot on the podium after a tight finish against Belgian rider Remco Evenepoel from Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe. The peloton arrived at the finish line shortly after 5:00 PM under sunny skies.
The competition now moves to the second stage, which will run from Banyoles to Figueres. The Volta a Catalunya will continue through the Costa Daurada and the Pyrenees before concluding next Sunday in Barcelona.
