The proliferation of these insects has led to the temporary closure of some establishments, including bars and restaurants, due to the impossibility of maintaining hygienic conditions and work environments. Other businesses continue to operate despite the nuisance of dozens of flies constantly swarming around employees.
Despite the deployment of numerous traps throughout the municipality, the infestation persists, and the insects continue to be a widespread problem.
The main source of this infestation has been identified at a recycling company located in the Hostalric industrial park. Reports indicate that infected pallets were the initial cause, and the heat has accelerated their reproduction and spread throughout the town.
In response to the situation, the municipal council has taken action and has initiated administrative proceedings against the company identified as the origin of the problem.
