This innovative facility will replace the current PCC, which had become outdated and presented accessibility issues in the town center. The first day of opening will be limited to emergencies, with regular activities commencing from Tuesday.
The building has been conceived as a pilot project, integrating bioclimatic criteria that significantly reduce energy consumption and improve indoor comfort. Key features include a high level of thermal insulation, natural ventilation systems, and the utilization of subsoil temperature for air regulation.
Furthermore, the new PCC incorporates natural lighting in all rooms, photovoltaic panels, water-saving systems, and spaces adapted to promote sustainable mobility. The design also prioritized ease of maintenance and operational efficiency of the facilities.
The center boasts 12 consultation rooms, treatment areas, and spaces dedicated to community activities and healthcare staff. It is expected to serve over 13,000 people from the Breda-Hostalric basic health area.
The project aims to obtain BREEAM environmental certification, one of the most demanding internationally, reinforcing the commitment to more sustainable healthcare facilities adapted to current needs. The total investment for the construction of the new PCC was 3.4 million euros, on a plot of land donated by the Town Council on Sieira Sanmartín Street.
