A man sustained a gunshot wound to his leg on Thursday night in Lloret de Mar, prompting an investigation by the Mossos d'Esquadra. The incident occurred around eleven at night on a street in the municipality. The victim was initially taken to Blanes Regional Hospital and subsequently transferred to Trueta Hospital in Girona for specialized care. The Criminal Investigation Division of the Mossos is working to clarify the facts and identify those involved.
Separately, the Mossos d'Esquadra, with the support of the local police forces of Blanes and Lloret de Mar, conducted a taxi control operation on the GI-600 road, within the municipality of Blanes. During the operation, 28 vehicles were inspected, and 17 complaints were filed for various irregularities, mainly related to documentation and vehicle condition.
Among the most notable actions, a taxi from a Barcelona company, operating the route between Lloret de Mar and El Prat Airport, was immobilized. The vehicle was circulating with an expired MOT (ITV) and had serious tire deficiencies, posing a risk to passenger safety.
In other news, the Rodalies train service has resumed charging fares since this Saturday, following more than three months of free travel decreed by the Generalitat. This measure compensated for disruptions due to construction work and the fatal accident in Gelida. The Dignitat a les Vies platform has described the return to fares as "unwise," citing the service's low reliability and persistent incidents on lines such as the R13 and R15.
Finally, Girona-Costa Brava Airport has expanded its connections with the United Kingdom with two new routes operated by Jet2. These routes will link to London Gatwick (three weekly flights) and Edinburgh (one weekly flight). With these additions, the airport now has five direct connections with the British capital, reinforcing its role as an international gateway and consolidating the British market as one of its main ones.
