The special operation, named Kanpai, took place on Friday night and Saturday morning in various towns within the region. Its primary goal was to combat recidivism and the presence of weapons and drugs on the streets. During the operation, in addition to the 16 arrests, 523 individuals were identified, who collectively have 1,620 prior police records.
The actions also led to 37 citations for narcotic substances and 5 for possession of prohibited weapons. In traffic enforcement, 38 citations were issued, including 5 for driving without a license, and 6 vehicles were immobilized due to lack of insurance.
Concurrently, Labor Inspection issued several administrative sanctions against three inspected venues. Notably, a nightclub in Calafell was cited for allowing access to underage individuals.
The Kanpai operation by the Mossos d'Esquadra covered municipalities in the Tarragonès, Baix Camp, Alt Camp, Priorat, and Baix Penedès regions. The operation involved collaboration from the Local Police, the Civil Guard, and the National Police, as well as Labor Inspection. The aim was to enhance security and citizen coexistence in the area.
