The service interruption on the Rodalies R1 line occurred on Friday afternoon due to a landslide detected on the section between Maçanet-Massanes and Blanes. This incident took place just the day the railway service was resuming across all of Catalonia after a two-day halt following the fatal accident in Gelida.
Renfe reported that an alternative road service has been activated to cover the affected route. The company ensures that train circulation between Hospitalet de Llobregat and Blanes remains operational, running at a frequency of two trains per hour in each direction.
It should be noted that a serious incident had already occurred in this same section recently. On Tuesday night, just minutes before the collapse in Gelida, a rock fall caused a train to derail, although without causing fatalities.
