The initiative is promoted by the Directorate General for Environmental Policies of the Generalitat de Catalunya and is aimed at public administration workers, members of environmental organizations, NGOs, and research centers, with the goal of offering practical and uniform tools.
“"Training and capacity building in the management of invasive species have often been lacking. Therefore, this course aims to standardize working methods and improve the efficiency of professionals."
During the first session, participants received an introduction to the ecology of biological invasions and current regulations. The training will resume on January 23 with a block on best practices and a final session on resilient gardens and alternatives to using invasive plants.
The school's director, Anna Suquet, highlighted “an avalanche of registrations,” demonstrating social interest in the topic. This training is modular, but work is already underway on more comprehensive regulated training focused on these species.
