The Lloret-Tossa Basic Health Area has launched the Sports Prescription Program, integrating physical activity as a therapeutic tool in the Agustí Cabañas and Dr. F. Benito Inaraja CAPs, as well as in the Tossa de Mar clinic.

This pioneering initiative aims to promote and improve patient health through personalized physical exercise programs. It is specifically designed for individuals with low activity levels, cardiovascular risk factors, controlled chronic diseases, overweight, emotional distress, social isolation, or those needing to preserve functional autonomy, such as the elderly.
The process begins in primary care consultations, where healthcare professionals identify eligible patients and refer them to the specialized service. There, a sports physical educator conducts a comprehensive assessment of each person's health status, habits, and limitations to design a tailored physical activity plan.
Prescribed activities can be both individual and collective, with continuous monitoring to assess patient progress and encourage long-term adherence. This cross-functional collaboration involves professionals from medicine, nursing, physiotherapy, community health, and physical activity specialists.
With this implementation, the Lloret-Tossa Basic Health Area joins the approximately fifty primary care centers in Catalonia already offering this innovative therapeutic program.
