The Blanes Local Police arrested three men and issued five citations for drug possession during a specialized night patrol this Tuesday, utilizing the force's recently reinstated canine unit.

The operation was spearheaded by Eris, a police dog from the local K9 unit. The first intervention occurred in the Control-Horta de la Perla neighborhood, where the dog identified two individuals carrying drugs outside a bar. One of them was taken into custody after officers discovered an active warrant for his arrest.
Two additional arrests were made later that night in the train station area and the Mas Moixà district. These actions highlight the increased police presence in key areas of the town located in the Selva region.
The Blanes police department brought back its canine unit last summer after a nearly thirty-year hiatus. This initiative aims to strengthen community policing and enhance the department's ability to combat street-level drug possession.
