The Tossa de Mar Town Council is searching for a new location for its future municipal nursery school this February following a restrictive report from the Catalan Water Agency (ACA).

The ACA experts determined that the original site, located in the school district near the high school, sits on a preferential flow zone of the Tossa stream. Current safety regulations prohibit the construction of new educational facilities in areas with a high risk of flooding.
While the project was in its final design stages, the local government has halted all progress to comply with the environmental mandate. Existing schools and the library currently under construction are not affected by these specific new restrictions, as they were approved under previous regulations.
The Town Council is now considering the Mas Font sector, specifically on Joan Maragall Avenue, as the new site. This area currently serves as the playground for the nursery school located at Sant Joan Square.
