The Tossa de Mar City Council announced on January 13, 2026, the construction of 79 affordable rental homes in Can Vergonyós, integrated into the housing plan launched by the Government of Catalonia.

The initiative by the Tossa de Mar City Council seeks to address the severe housing shortage in the coastal municipality. This project is part of the first land tender called by the Government of Catalonia, which aims to create 1,940 affordable public rental homes in various high-demand locations.

"The cession of Can Vergonyós is a firm commitment to protecting the right to housing in Tossa."

Imma Colom · Councilor for Housing of Tossa de Mar
Housing Councilor Imma Colom emphasized that the goal is to ensure that the local population, especially young people and families in need, can remain in the municipality with rents that fit their economic means.
The tender specifies that the successful bidder will be responsible for both the construction and management of the homes for a period of 75 years. In addition to Tossa de Mar, the competition includes other municipalities in the Girona region, such as Lloret de Mar and Maçanet de la Selva, grouped in zone 3 along with the Vallès Oriental.
