The town of Vidreres celebrated its traditional Ranxo Festival this Tuesday, distributing over 11,000 portions of the historic stew to more than 3,000 attendees.

Local cooks prepared 3,000 liters of the dish in large outdoor cauldrons. This centuries-old tradition originated as a way to provide a hot meal to the poor before the start of Lent, using ingredients collected from local households.
The municipality is currently working with other towns in Catalonia and Andorra to have these historic carnival soups recognized as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, preserving the social legacy of the event.
