A woman died on Thursday evening, January 29, in Breda (la Selva) due to a fire followed by a deflagration in a home on Santa Anna street, as confirmed by the Fire Department.

The emergency call was received around 7:45 PM. The Generalitat Fire Department mobilized seven units, including a team specialized in collapsed structures, given the initial possibility of severe damage or more affected individuals.
After inspecting the property on Santa Anna street, it was confirmed that the victim was the sole occupant of the dwelling, and significant structural damage was ruled out, although the ceiling was damaged.
Preliminary checks indicate that the fire originated in the kitchen and remained confined to that area. It is believed the flames self-extinguished, possibly due to lack of oxygen, but they caused significant damage inside, with blackened walls and visible defects.
Despite the rapid intervention of two ambulances from the Medical Emergency Service (SEM) and the Fire Department, the woman's life could not be saved. The Mossos d’Esquadra police force has opened an investigation to determine the exact causes of the incident.
