Lloret de Mar has focused on environmental preservation by simultaneously hosting the international nature photography festival MontPhoto and the Plogging Day, an environmental awareness initiative.

The Plogging Day mobilized 620 students from local schools and divers from the Mosaik Sub club of Palafolls. Students toured various natural and urban areas of the town, including Roca d'en Maig, paths, and the beach, to collect waste. Divers, meanwhile, cleaned the seabed in the Roca d'en Maig area. Collected items primarily included cans, bottles, bags, and paper, but also objects like a shoe and a car tire.
Participants included students from Esteve Carles, Pere Torrent, Àngels Alemany, Institut Escola, Col·legi Immaculada Concepció schools, as well as from Coll i Rodès and Rocagrossa institutes. The collected waste was concentrated at Roca d'en Maig. Plogging, which combines physical activity with waste collection, originated in Sweden in 2016 and has spread internationally. The organization in Lloret de Mar was managed by the City Council, the Fundació Climent Guitart, and the cooperative La Mar de Dones.
Concurrently, the MontPhoto FEST is being held, coinciding with the 30th edition of the MontPhoto international nature photography contest. This year's call has achieved record participation with over 15,000 photographs from 64 countries. The winners will be announced during the Awards Gala on October 2nd at the Teatre de Lloret, marking the festival's start.
Over three days, the event will bring together photographers and visual creators with conferences, presentations, workshops, and photo outings. There will also be a free-access social tent, live music, a gastronomic area, and sector companies. Additionally, Lloret hosts nine nature and documentary photography exhibitions, including the award-winning works at the Casa de la Cultura and a commemorative exhibition in the plaça de la Vila.
“

"Sustainability is a strategic axis for Lloret de Mar. Hosting the Plogging Day and MontPhoto FEST, with a high educational and awareness component, reinforces our commitment to environmental preservation."
