The municipality of Vidreres is officially joining the calendar for the Gironí Cross Circuit for the 2026 edition. The town will host the fourth race of the circuit on Sunday, November 29th, which will also serve as the venue for the Gironí Championship.
The circuit's presentation was held yesterday, October 6th, in the Ferran Agulló hall of the Girona Provincial Council. This edition, which includes the 22nd Diputació de Girona Grand Prix and the 35th Selva Comarcal Council Trophy, will feature athlete Bakr El Asri, the under-20 world champion in the 3,000m steeplechase, as its patron.
The races in the circuit are designed to include all categories, from under-8s to veterans over fifty-five years old, in both male and female categories.
Vidreres joins the rotating host system established in 2023, alongside municipalities such as Santa Coloma de Farners and Banyoles. The five races scheduled for this edition will take place on the following dates: October 17th in Castelló d’Empúries; November 15th in Santa Coloma de Farners; November 22nd in Girona; November 29th in Vidreres (Gironí Championship); and December 13th in Banyoles.
The Gironí Cross Circuit is supported by various institutions, including the Girona Provincial Council, the Selva Comarcal Council, the Generalitat de Catalunya, the sports councils of the Girona counties, the participating town councils, the Catalan Athletics Federation, and collaborating sports clubs.
