The Tarragona City Council, the Diputació de Tarragona, and the Spanish Government agreed this Wednesday to modify the planned route of the Savinosa coastal path.

The project, awarded to Seranco for 950.000 euros, will now avoid areas with high environmental value. The new layout aims to protect local flora such as limonium and will move further inland near the beach to preserve the natural rocky terrain.
The width of the path will be reduced from the original five meters to approximately 4.5 meters. This width is considered the minimum required to allow ambulance access, ensuring safety for both pedestrians and cyclists using the route.

"The goal is to further minimize impacts on protected flora, the rocky areas, and the natural terrain."

The agreement was finalized by Mayor Rubén Viñuales, President Noemí Llauradó, and Sub-delegate Elisabet Romero. To avoid administrative delays, the Diputació de Tarragona will provide additional land to the Ministry for Ecological Transition.
