Choni Fernández appointed new Director of Operations and Sustainable Innovation at PortAventura World

The executive, with over 15 years of experience at the resort, faces the challenge of improving customer experience and closing the new labor agreement.

PortAventura World announced this Friday, January 16, 2026, the internal restructuring of its management team, naming Choni Fernández the new Director of Operations and Sustainable Innovation for the Costa Daurada complex.

Choni Fernández, who previously served as Director of Client, Sustainability, and Communication, has assumed the direction of Park Operations and Sustainable Innovation at PortAventura World. This internal restructuring, initiated in early 2026, primarily seeks to gain operational efficiency and simplify the theme resort's management structure.
Among the main challenges Fernández faces are improving the experience in attractions and managing the team, especially the negotiation and signing of the new labor agreement with the workers. Fernández, originally from La Canonja and with more than 15 years of experience at the company, will continue to work closely with the General Director, Fernando Aldecoa.

The negotiation of the new labor agreement with PortAventura World employees will be one of the first issues the new Director of Operations will address to ensure workforce stability.

These changes also involve other key movements. David Carnero, Commercial Director since last September, now incorporates the areas of Client and Communication. Meanwhile, Vicky Farriol, the former Director of Operations, will remain in the department developing specific projects during the season.
Furthermore, the resort's digital structure has been outsourced. The digital direction, led by Andreu Tobella, will become PortAventura Adventure Labs, a company spin-off. The goal is to accelerate the creation of experiences based on mixed reality, such as the technologies behind Expedició Ulum or Hysteria in Boothill.
