This action represents a significant advance in the construction of the new link that will connect the highway with the T-315, optimizing accessibility and connections in a rapidly expanding area. The initiative is part of the agreement signed in the autumn of 2024 between the Ministry of Transport and the Generalitat de Catalunya.
Through this agreement, the Catalan administration took on the management for the construction of new accesses and the improvement of existing ones on both the AP-7 and AP-2. These works, valued at approximately 250 million euros, will be financed by the central government.
The current tender is the first step to select the company responsible for drafting the layout project, conducting the traffic study, and processing the environmental documentation. Subsequently, the construction project will be drafted, prior to the tender for the works. This initial contract is valued at nearly 400,000 euros, with an estimated total budget for the link of about 10 million euros.
“"This link with the AP-7 is a step further, very necessary and will improve the city's connectivity with such an important infrastructure as the highway."
The new entry and exit is considered a strategic action for the entire Camp de Tarragona, as it will directly connect three major growth areas. Currently, the area already has the Alba industrial estate, and in the future, two new infrastructures will be added: the future Camp de Tarragona intermodal station and the new developments planned in sector H-7. This connection will reinforce Reus's role as a logistics and metropolitan mobility hub, improving accessibility for both businesses and workers and reducing dependence on current, already congested accesses.
The proximity to the future intermodal station will make this point a key gateway to the territory, ideal for attracting economic, logistical, and industrial activity. It will also facilitate the establishment of new companies in the future sector H-7 and boost the competitiveness of existing industrial estates, leveraging the strategic position of the AP-7 within the Mediterranean corridor. In addition to this link in Reus, the agreement foresees three new entries and exits on the AP-7 as it passes through the Tarragona regions, specifically in Masdenverge, Banyeres del Penedès, and El Vendrell.
