The municipal representative from Vila-seca has reiterated their critical stance regarding the formation of a metropolitan area in Camp de Tarragona. During a radio interview, they emphasized the lack of genuine consensus, despite three years of debate on this initiative.
“"I don't like to be hypocritical or generate false expectations of a consensus that is not true; we have been discussing the metropolitan area for three years, and the most important issues are still on the table."
While supporting collaboration between municipalities for service management, such as the inter-municipal funeral home FuneCamp, the representative sees no future in the current proposal for the metropolitan area. They expressed pessimism, arguing that projects require solid foundations, which, in their opinion, are not present in this initiative.
“"I am not too optimistic because buildings must have good foundations, and that is not the case here."
Regarding the change in position of the Tarragona City Council on the location of the future intermodal station in Camp de Tarragona, the representative indicated that from the provincial capital, this infrastructure is perceived not as an element of synergy, but as an obstacle to their own proposed station in Horta. This perspective, according to them, hinders the achievement of consensus and the building of necessary complicity.
