The competition, which took place in Salou, brought together the elite of international triathlon in one of the most significant events on the calendar. Participants completed a demanding course that included 1,900 meters of swimming, 90 kilometers of cycling along the Salou–Tarragona highway, and a final half-marathon of 21 kilometers along the Salou coastline.
This year, the event also served as the Absolute Catalan National Triathlon Championship. Nearly 1,200 athletes from 50 different nationalities participated, with 60% international competitors and about 60 professional triathletes, solidifying Salou as a global benchmark in this sport.
The men's podium was highly contested, with Jack Hutchens in second place and Arthur Berland in third, separated by just over two minutes. In the women's category, the excitement was intense until the very end. While Agnew secured second place comfortably, the battle for bronze was decided in the final kilometer, with a local triathlete overtaking Juliette Lucet thanks to a final surge.
“"I think it was thanks to the public and all the encouragement I received. Hearing people shout my name really motivated me; racing at home benefited me."
The local triathlete, the only Spanish representative on the podiums of this edition, highlighted the spectacular atmosphere of Salou and the speed of the circuit. She also expressed regret about the low presence of local competitors in the top positions, although she acknowledged that this demonstrates the international character and high demands of the event.
