The Mossos d'Esquadra reported a driver traveling at 177 km/h in his BMW on the C-422 road, which links La Selva del Camp and Constantí, on the morning of Friday, January 29.

The violation was recorded at nine in the morning on Friday, January 29, at kilometer point 9.7 of the C-422. The speed limit on this conventional road, which connects La Selva del Camp and Constantí, is set at 90 km/h. The Mossos d'Esquadra speed camera registered the car traveling at almost twice the permitted speed.

This is a conventional road with one lane per direction, where rural paths and farm accesses converge, a circumstance that could have led to a serious traffic accident.

Exceeding the speed limit by more than 60 km/h on an interurban road in Catalonia constitutes a crime against road safety. Penalties include three to six months in prison, a fine, or community service, in addition to the withdrawal of the driving license for one to four years.
This marks the second instance of extreme speeding detected by the Mossos in the Tarragona area within a week. On Saturday, January 24, another driver was caught in Amposta traveling at 174 km/h on a section limited to 80 km/h.
