The Teatre Tarragona hosted the presentation gala for the 30th edition of the Concurs de Castells, which includes an extensive audiovisual season with new series and documentaries.

The 'casteller' audiovisual season kicks off strongly for the 30th edition of the Concurs de Castells. This Sunday, the Teatre Tarragona was the venue for a gala where new features were presented, including new series and documentaries dedicated to the event. The regular season will begin on June 24th in Valls, coinciding with the Sant Joan festival. This broadcast will join about twenty more produced by La Xarxa, TAC12, and PenedèsTV, in addition to local television coverage.
During the event, the official poster for the 2026 Concurs, created by artist Ricard Martínez, was also unveiled. Under the slogan 'This season Rock'n Roll', the 'casteller' season premieres an audiovisual offering that, as highlighted by Núria de José, CEO of XAL, includes content aimed at children, the relationship between local televisions and the 'casteller' world, and university events. The approximately forty broadcasted events can be followed through local televisions and the La Xarxa+ platform, with the Sant Joan event in Valls as the starting point and the one by Minyons de Terrassa in November as the closing.
The gala underscored the "cultural and heritage" dimension of the Concurs. A tribute was paid to Pau Casals, president of the first event in 1932, on the 150th anniversary of his birth. Cellist Edmon Bosch performed one of his pieces during a screening of historical images. The Concurs poster, created by Ricard Martínez using the 'sfumato' technique, is based on archival photographs where children's gazes are central.

"This will be a 'casteller' season that will see "great constructions", with a Concurs that "sets the agenda" for the 'colles'."

Albert Torres · President of the Coordinadora de Colles Castelleres de Catalunya
In anticipation of the Concurs events in Torredembarra (September 27th) and Tarragona (October 3rd and 4th), interviews with 'casteller' world representatives have been conducted. The edition promises to be intense both in person and in media coverage. Albert Torres, president of the Coordinadora de Colles Castelleres de Catalunya, has positively valued the broadcasts, stating they "help preserve, promote, and validate one of the most important cultural expressions of the country." Torres anticipates "great constructions" and a contest that "sets the agenda" for the 'colles', with consensual "technical improvements". Ester Roca, director of the Concurs de Castells, expects "one of the best contests ever held."
The director general of Popular Culture, Carol Duran, highlighted the international projection of the Concurs de Castells, calling it a "key milestone in the calendar." Meanwhile, the councillor for Culture of the Tarragona City Council, Sandra Ramos, emphasized the "demand and prestige" that the event brings to the city.
