The maritime traffic at the Port of Tarragona experienced a 6.5% growth during the first half of 2026, reaching an accumulated volume of 15,120,848 tons. In the month of June alone, traffic increased by 6.9%, with 2,463,953 tons handled.
Liquid bulk continues to be the main driver of port activity, with 9,894,677 tons moved between January and June, up 7.9%. Within this group, chemical products stand out with an 18.6% growth, exceeding 2 million tons.
Crude oil remains the cargo with the highest weight, representing 29.6% of total traffic with 4.47 million tons. Other petroleum products also showed positive performance, with a 12.5% increase.
Dry bulk cargo closed the semester with a 7.5% increase, totaling 4,302,544 tons. Despite the decrease in coal and petroleum coke (-39.3%), this drop was offset by other goods.
The agri-food sector, with a 4.6% growth in cereals, feed, and flour (2.84 million tons), remains a strategic asset. Iron ore registered a 54% increase, reaching 812,892 tons.
General cargo shows a slight accumulated decrease of 9.7%, but the containerized cargo segment maintains a positive trend with a 7.7% growth in TEUs.
Regarding automobiles, the month of June was particularly positive with the loading and unloading of 19,117 units, 10.6% more than in June 2025. While the overall annual figure is still below the previous year, the data from the last month is encouraging.
