The Euroports terminal, located at the Castilla Quay, handled this complex logistical operation. The pieces, each measuring 26 meters in length and weighing over 30 tons, were manufactured in the Tarragona region and are part of a European industrial project.
The handling of these large-dimensioned loads required precise technical coordination. Two reach stacker cranes were used in tandem for reception, self-propelled modular transporters (SPMT) for the transfer to the quayside, and lifting equipment for placement within the MV Maestro's hold. The operation was completed in a single day, including welding and lashing work to secure the cargo.
This logistical milestone reinforces the Port of Tarragona's position as a key hub for Project Cargo (special and oversized loads) traffic in the Western Mediterranean. Its facilities, with deep drafts, quayside open spaces, and direct access, combined with the technical expertise of operators like Euroports, make it a competitive option for international industry.
