Port of Tarragona maintains growth, exceeding 17.5 million tons through July

The Port of Tarragona has consolidated its upward trend during the first seven months of 2026, reaching a cumulative maritime traffic volume of 17.5 million tons, 6.3% more than the previous year.

During the month of July, port facilities handled 2.4 million tons, representing a 5.3% increase compared to the same period in 2025. These figures reflect a strong general performance of the main commodity groups operating at the Tarragona docks.
Dry bulk has been one of the growth drivers, with an 11.9% increase in the annual cumulative total. Within this segment, cereals, feed, and flour stand out, totaling over 3.2 million tons. Simultaneously, iron ore has recorded a significant 49.9% increase in the first seven months of the year.
As for liquid bulk, it remains the largest commodity group, exceeding 11.5 million cumulative tons. Petroleum products have grown by 12.8%, while chemical products have experienced a positive evolution of 4.7%.
Maritime activity has also shown signs of dynamism, with a total of 1,290 vessel calls registered between January and July, 1.4% more than in the same period of the previous year. Furthermore, vehicle movement was particularly notable in July, with a 61.3% growth.
