The Snow Flake, a recently built vessel owned by Cool Carriers, the world's leading operator of specialized reefer ships, docked at the Reus Quay. Its arrival marks the incorporation of a state-of-the-art vessel into the maritime transport of perishable goods.
The cargo, comprising 4,200 tons of fruit, will be unloaded at Fruport's facilities. The presence of the Snow Flake was marked by a visit from representatives of the Port Authority of Tarragona, including its president, Santiago Castellà.
Cool Carriers operates a fleet of over 50 reefer ships, specializing in the fast and direct transport of perishable cargo such as citrus fruits, frozen meat, and fish. The company emphasizes that the introduction of the Snow-class vessels will further enhance delivery reliability and environmental performance, responding to the growing global demand for fresh produce.
This is the second Snow-series vessel to arrive at the Tarragona port this April, following its twin sister, the Snow Flower, which unloaded approximately 6,000 tons. On both occasions, a commemorative plaque was presented to the ship's captain, symbolizing a new era in the maritime transport of perishable products.
The shipping company Cool Carriers operates global trade routes, including the key New Zealand-Europe connection, essential for transporting kiwis to Spain, with the Port of Tarragona serving as a crucial entry point. The Snow Flake was received by the shipping line last July, after completing its construction in Japan.
