Approximately one hundred people gathered this Wednesday afternoon in front of the Tarragona Municipal Education Institute (IMET) to protest against the current planning of I3 school places.

The demonstration coincided with the Municipal School Council meeting. Parents expressed frustration over the reduction of public spots while private subsidized schools maintain their capacity. This issue is particularly sensitive in Zones 3 and 4 of Tarragona, where private offers significantly outnumber public ones.

"Families can remain calm because every student in the municipality will have a place."

The Department of Education has defended its technical planning, which uses geolocation and census data to minimize school segregation. Currently, there are 1,082 available places for the 1,064 children born in 2023 registered in the city.
