Around sixty vehicles organized by Revolta Pagesa blocked the A-27 access to the Port of Tarragona this Thursday, January 8, 2026, demanding the European Union not sign the trade agreement with Mercosur.

The mobilization, which is part of a wave of protests replicated across the country and Europe, aims to pressure against the ratification of the trade pact with the South American bloc. Farmers argue that this agreement severely harms them economically.

"The pact would also have consequences for consumers, since food produced in other parts of the world does not comply with the sanitary requirements that exist in Europe, a fact that they believe can be detrimental to health."

The president of the Gremi de la Pagesia Catalana, Joan Regolf, emphasized that the pact not only affects local producers but would also have direct consequences for consumers.
The demonstrators plan to extend the port access blockade until next Monday, maintaining pressure on European authorities to halt the signing of the agreement.
