The 13th edition of FITT – Tarragona International Theatre Festival began yesterday afternoon, transforming Tarragona into a stage for contemporary creation and new dramaturgy. The President of the Port Authority of Tarragona, Santiago J. Castellà, attended the inauguration, held at the Teatre Tarragona. The festival, running until September 5th, is sponsored by the Port of Tarragona.
The opening day commenced on Rambla Nova with the free itinerant performance "Dones de llum" by the company Gisela de Foc. Three female figures paraded through the urban space to the Balcó del Mediterrani, presenting a poetic and visual show suitable for all audiences, blending dance and circus.
At the entrance of the Teatre Tarragona, a photocall and the Sicària DJ truck welcomed attendees, fostering a festive atmosphere. This event places Tarragona on the international performing arts map. The inaugural program continued with "Bomba va" by Glòria Ribera, an original and powerful stage piece that officially opened the festival in the main theatre.
With this new edition, Tarragona reaffirms its capacity to host and promote culture, contemporary creation, and new dramaturgy. Over four days, the festival features 16 stage productions, street performances, workshops, dinners, and musical sessions, with participation from local and international artists and companies.
