Around 500 people gathered this March 1st at the Balcó del Mediterrani in Tarragona to demand that Joan XXIII Hospital provides 24-hour thrombectomy services.

The demonstration, organized by the FAVT and the Public Health Platform, follows a recent Health Department announcement extending the service until 8:00 PM on weekends. Protesters argue this is insufficient, as strokes can occur at any time and require immediate intervention.

"Strokes don't have a schedule. Having a unit that only works from 8 AM to 8 PM does not help ensure a good recovery."

Political representatives from ERC, Junts, and Comuns joined the rally, highlighting a perceived inequality compared to Barcelona and Girona, where 24/7 care is already established. A motion regarding this issue is set to be voted on in the Catalan Parliament on March 11th.
